Feb 07, The bushing was pretty much glued to the subframe after 24 years of being in there so even with the aluminum body of the bushing cut, it took lots of cussing and blood to get it out. Old vs. new The center of one bushing fell out when I took the nut off.

This method worked great in getting the new ones in. Sounds like Powerflex is the way to go. The subframe is held to the car through these bushings by 9mm x ~mm studs.

The originals lasted 20 years, no reason to think a new set of standard bushings won't do the same.

These studs have a splined shoulder that is pressed into an opening in the floor of the car under the rear seat and must be removed to use either of the BMW tools to replace the bushings. Can t find the special BMW tool to press out subframe bushings. You can make one with electrical unistrutt/ 2 unistrutt angles bolts washers 1/2" x 12".
